Article 1: General Rules
All subscribing members of the Sailing Club of Ste.Croix du Verdon, (hereafter "the Club"), must be aware of the current Club rules. These are available to every member, who is given a copy on joining.
Temporary members are those who subscribe to the Club for a defined period (maximum 6 weeks). They are also subject to the Club Rules.
The Rules of the Club apply to everyone, member or guest (the latter being a limited and occasional group).
The Club cannot allow the membership of a juvenile without the written authority of his/her parents.
Article 2: Insurance - Responsibility
The Club members are entirely responsible for any Third Party physical or material damage including those to other members and their property, and must, as a consequence, be insured to cover this responsibility. Proof of this cover may be asked for by the office.
The members are also responsible for their guests, their boats (on land as well as the water), their cars and their personal effects.
The Club has an insurance covering Club property. It is not responsible for members' property. The Club does not accept any responsibility in case of theft.
Article 3: Subscriptions
Subscriptions are due when requested.
All paid subscriptions become the property of the Club.
On termination of Club membership, all property must be removed within thirty days of the request for subscriptions. In this event, a quarter of the annual fees for any storage/berthing is due for each quarter of the year already started.
Article 4: Access to Facilities
Access to the Club, stores and slipway are reserved solely for members of the Club, their families and their guests. It is not permitted for them to enter the office without an invitation.
Dogs must be kept on a lead.
Vehicle access to the slipway is only allowed for manoeuvring boat trailers. As soon as this has been done, the vehicles and trailers must be parked in the appropriate places.
All the facilities constituting the Club base are to be looked after by the members, who must help to maintain them in a clean and orderly state.
In order to avoid overloading, only two sets of sails, maximum, (rolled & in a bag), per boat, can be stored in the sail lockers. It is forbidden to store any other items of equipment.
The boats must always be put back in their respective berths.
Rigged boats must not be left unattended by the water.
Strict safety rules must be observed for the berthing and winter storage of boats.
Article 5: Organisation of the Club
The day-to-day organisation of the Club is placed under the control and authority of the Club Manager/Bosun, who is selected by the Committee. The Club is considered to be open when the Club Manager/Bosun, or his representative, is present.
The Committee has the sole right to decide the terms of use of equipment available to the Club.
The Club Manager/Bosun must be informed of all arrivals or departures of boats within the Club boundary or on the water.
Members are reminded that the Club is not in the business of boat storage. If the Club Manager/Bosun, or the office, is of the opinion that a boat has not been used at all for two consecutive years, the Committee has the right to insist that it should be removed.
The Club Manager/Bosun has complete authority to take, in emergency, all measures he feels necessary to safeguard any property within the Club boundaries. These measures do not substitute the responsibility of the boat owner.
Article 6: Use of the Club's Work/Service Boat
The club has a work/service boat the use of which must be authorised by the Club manager/Bosun. This boat is not equipped nor classified as a safety/rescue boat.
Article 7: Safety Arrangements - Sailing
The Club members are responsible for their own safety and sail at their own risk. They must strictly observe the sailing rules and, in particular, the local by-laws, especially the by-law decreed jointly by the administrations of the Alpes d'Haute Provence and of the Var, dated 16/08/1976.
In accordance with this by-law, navigation with any engine, other than an electric one, is totally forbidden on the lake.
As a safety measure, every Club member must inform the Club Manager/Bosun of his arrival at the Club, his departure on the water and be aware of the current weather conditions.
A by-law forbids the navigation within 100m of the bridge Sainte Croix (next to the dam).
Bathing is not allowed in the cordoned off channel (in front of the club) marked by yellow buoys.
The lake is used by sea-planes involved in fighting forest fires, and this operation requires a very low flight path. On these occasions, it is imperative that all boats should move out of the flight path as quickly as possible.
The use of a Club mooring is entirely the responsibility of the Club member.
On each departure from the Club, the boats must be equipped with all the necessary safety equipment which is defined in each boat category. The list of the required items is on the Club notice-board.
In the case of a boat on a mooring being unused for more than 15 days, the owner may be required to remove it to provide access to the mooring for others.
Article 8: Good Conduct
As well as the aforementioned items, good conduct includes:
Taking part willingly and whenever possible in the work parties at the Club.
To help in the way of life at the Club.
Not to touch or sit on boats belonging to others.
To be polite and respectful to other members.
The parking of vehicles in the Club is a privilege not a right. It is limited to one vehicle per membership.
It is forbidden for a member to park their vehicle in a manner that causes a problem to others.
It is obligatory to leave adequate access for emergency vehicles.
When parking in the Club, it is obligatory to leave the keys of the car with the Club Manager/Bosun.
Article 9: Discipline
All contraventions of these rules are subject to disciplinary action by:
A warning issued by the Club Manager/Bosun.
A reprimand by the office.
Exclusion, decided by the Committee. This could be verbal or by registered letter.
No sanction can be imposed without hearing the members case or a meeting being called.
Article 10: Approval
The present Club rules were approved by the Committee, and modified and adopted by the AGMs of 22/01/2005 and 21/01/2006.
